1. Use Microsoft Copilot to brainstorm potential research topics in one of your areas of interest from Step 1. Consider the COSTAR framework for how to prompt AI. Note you will complete for the 3 general ideas selected above.

C = Context: Establish the situation.

O = Objective: Define the goal/intended outcome.

S = Style: Indicate the desired writing style.

T = Tone: Clarify the attitude of/for the intended response.

A = Audience: Identify who the response is for.

R = Response: Specify the desired outcome (format, wordcount, etc.).

Prompt Example for #3 above: You are a fourth-grade teacher in a regular education classroom teaching math to two separate classrooms at a rural elementary school. Suggest 5 research topics with detailed examples using the most current research in mathematics teaching to conduct in the fourth-grade classroom. The research topic should be written in academic tone and clear for first-year graduate students.
