You can start from a list of fields and subfields, things that you like, things that you are interested in. Then you compound a research area with these fields, it is just a sentence. Within this area you choose a topic, that explains which aspects of  the area you intend to explore. Once you have all these things, you declare your research aim in a little paragraph.
