REPSOND IN 75 WORDS
- In my essay I addressed a topic some people may understand while others feel offended. My topic was black hatred and oppression by the government. I think some of my audience will be sympathetic while others are hostile. The hostiles are typically people who do not believe that anything I am saying is true. They could think it is fake news as our president so often says. I have even heard that society is a result of lazy black people. That statement is completely untrue. My central claim is that while the way racism happens has changed, it is still occurring constantly. Others may this is blasphemy and made up to trick black people into thinking that they are victims to society. However, to understand someone's situation to the fullest you must go through the same situation. Other thoughts could be that people make things happen to themselves. This is true but what about the innocents that were taken advantage of? What about the killings of us caught on camera? I encountered the challenge of removing personal feelings and bias and replacing them with facts found in reliable sources. Reliable sources also became hard to find as bias crept its way into many articles. I tried to use as little of these as possible.
- Do you agree or disagree with your classmate’s central claim? Are you more inclined to resist or accept your classmate’s position?
- How strong are the opposing arguments that your classmate presented? Are there other opposing arguments that should be considered?
- How would you refute or accommodate those arguments?
