1. Before the end of 2023, pass my board test with success. I already have a study plan in place, and I have all the materials and tools I need.
2. Within three months after graduation, secure a job as a Family Nurse Practitioner at a primary care facility. In order to improve my chances of finding work, I will apply to at least five primary care clinics and go to networking gatherings.
3. Within six months of graduating, I want to improve my clinical abilities by taking a continuing education course on advanced wound care management. My current preceptor works one day a week in a wound clinic, and I believe that the area needs additional wound care providers.
Having this qualification would help me become more "hirable," which would benefit my patients and my place of employment.
Long-Term Goals:
1. Obtain certification from the board in a specialty field of family practice, such geriatrics or cardiology. Eventually, I intend to pass the certification exam within two years of graduating from FNP school. To do this, I'll create a study schedule, go to pertinent workshops, and ask mentors for advice. A specific qualification will undoubtedly advance my knowledge and professional prospects.
1.Earn board certification in a subspecialty of family medicine, such as cardiology or geriatrics. I eventually hope to pass the certification exam within two years of graduating from FNP school. Creating a study schedule, going to pertinent workshops, and asking mentors for advice can help me do this. I'm certain that getting a specific certification will improve my knowledge and employment prospects.

My goal is to be a top-notch healthcare provider operating my own practice in the future by 2027. My plan after graduation is to get employment in busy acute care to expose me as a provider to numerous patient’s health problems and to be able to see patients across the lifespan. Working in this environment is what I called the “third part of my training after class work and clinical exposure”.
I want to be able to exposed to difficult cases that I can eventually learn through and be proficient in assessment, diagnosing, and treatment. After working in this setting for a good two years I want to start my practice. Now that is what I call “SMART” setting myself up to excel as a healthcare provider.
Specific- gained some professional experience
Measurable, -Two-three years
Achievable- After several clinical exposures, be proficient as a healthcare provider.
Realistic work-
hard to gain some knowledge now to allow work independently in the future.
Timely- By 2027 running my practice.
The application of
the S.M
.A.R.T approach is an excellent tool for staying organized and getting the job done in a meaningful way (Smith, 2021).
