Unlike Florence Nightingale, I was not raised from a wealthy family; our family was considered middle-class but conversely, Nightingale and I "were expected to get married at a young age, however, received a calling from God to help the sick and the poor" (Alexander, 2019). Nightingale and Walden mission, goals and social change initiatives relate to my professional and academic goals and to me becoming a scholar-practitioner because Walden "is always increasing access to higher education, and applying research thereby advancing the greater global good" (Walden, 2021).
