CLASSMATE'S POST
An individual's ethical standards can come from a variety of different sources. A collage of what you were taught, what you believe in, and what is morally right. Say, for instance, as a young child being taught right from wrong from your parents may be the first source or start to what is or isn't ethical as you know it. As you continue to grow up and enter school years you begin to start being exposed to the socialization process of friends, relationships, and extracurricular activities. This is a continuation of development into one's own personal beliefs, values, and principles. In other words, what we believe and how we feel about those beliefs affect our character, which shapes our conduct (Cooper, 2012, p.85). Finally, as time changes so can ethical standards. What was considered ethically wrong in the past may change to being ethically correct today due to the fact it was morally wrong for it to be unethical in the first place.
