What characteristics and abilities (functions) should a good data-base program possess for applications in CJ? Explain and be specific.
 

What is the MAIN (just one) advantage or contribution has been made by the ability to use a computer in conjunction with a database? Again be very specific and maybe give an example of before and after.

A criminal justice database needs to be able to record and import essential pieces of information and be able to quickly identify links between people, places, financial accounts, businesses, addresses, telephones and other types of information used by law enforcement officers when investigating criminal behaviors and acts.  The database needs able to change and grow as needed.  This includes increased data storage, the ability to expand from a small database with few users to a lager database with many more users, and comprehensive and efficient analytical tools.  The database needs to be user friendly, and not be so complex that it takes a computer expert or IT professional to be able to use I t(U.S. Department of Justice, 2018).  

It is very important that the database and the information is able to be shared by different agencies.  It is also critically essential that the database, the system and the network are safe and secure from intrusions and hackers.  Most of the data criminal justice officers and officials work with is of a highly sensitive matter, so the database must be secure and stable across all agencies and users who will have access to the data (U.S. Department of Justice, 2018).
