Hey Class

The first one i chose is called "a perfect square trinomial" and it is defined as a trinomial that can be written as the square of a binomial.

formula: (a^2)+2(a)(b)+(b)^2=(a+b)(a+b)

Example:

Perfect square trinomial: 9x^2+24xy+16y^2

                                         =(3x)^2+2(3x)(4y)+(4y)^2

                        binomial: =(3x+4y)(3x+4y)

The second one I chose was "difference of squares," and it is used when a phrase may be thought of as the difference between two perfect squares.  Formula: (a+b) (a-b)=(a^2+b^2)

Example: x^2-64 can be factored as (x+8)(x-8).
