"Regional Characteristics"

So, this week we look at regional characteristics of the colonies: New England, Middle Colonies like New York and Pennsylvania, the South. To a degree, many of these characteristics still exist today.

Ok, consider these four regions today. What 2 major characteristics, in your experienced opinion (or, in what others have told you) distinguishes them from other regions?
