Reading Is Essential For Writing?

profilekatherinejonesin

I came across this statement at a writer’s workshop, that to be a good writer you do not have to read.  I am a firm believer of this philosophy, having written both academically and commercially over the last 8 years. Many people have argued with me over this, however I still hold my views on this subject as before.  But, some students use service like buy essay online cheap for creating their essays, because it's easy. I do not think that reading is essential to writing is a myth; I believe that is a fact. Why, well I argue my points below.

Writing style differs I agree

Like fingerprints, all writers have their own unique way of writing. So every person will have a different writing style than the other. While I will argue that your style should remain unique to yourself, however everyone recognises bull if you dish it out. If your writing has no substance, then it’s only a matter of time before you lose your reader. There is about that much bull your reader will take, and remember there are many other good writers out there.

So if you do not read, you will never have enough substance to put in your writing.

Reading promotes / provokes imagination

In our limited lives, where we live and operate in we come into contact with a handful of people. Very few of us get to go around and experience, the world around us. Reading, gives us access to other people’s lives, different perspectives, new experiences and most important of all inspires your mind and imagination. It is the fount of knowledge that will perpetually nourish your mind with new ideas and thoughts.
