Part 2
National (US) and International (non-US) CSR Activities
The International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) is involved in a wide range of
CSR activities, both at the national and international levels, which demonstrates its dedication to
the promotion of sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) all over the world (Ipff.org,
n.d). On a national level, in the United States, IPPF partners with local organizations and
partners in order to support comprehensive sex education, advocate for policies in favor of
reproductive rights, and provide healthcare services that are accessible. These activities typically
4
include a series of bottom-up interventions that are geared towards informing the public,
galvanizing communities, and pushing for SRHR matters to be prioritized by policymakers.
List of CSR Campaigns or Actions
Globally, IPPF's CSR activities range from various projects across continents to different
challenges. Among other important things that the international CSR of the IPPF is characterized
by is its contribution to the response to humanitarian crises. IPPF performs a very important
function of rendering crucial health care services, including contraception, safe abortion, and
maternal care, in the areas affected by natural disasters, conflicts, and other emergencies. For
example, in the case of Cyclone Yasa in Fiji and Cyclone Idai in Mozambique, the IPPF
immediately mobilizes resources and personnel to provide life-saving assistance to the most
vulnerable people, proving its devotion to the humanitarian principles and social responsibility
(Ipff.org, n.d).
Moreover, IPPF is also included in the advocacy campaigns that are meant to fight abuses
like FGM and promote female empowerment and gender equality (Ipff.org, n.d). IPPF strives to
achieve this by means of targeted awareness-raising projects that aim at people and communities
so that they can challenge societal norms and practices that oppress SRHR and lead to
discrimination. In parallel, youth-led movements like the Youth Action Movement are an
example of how IPPF seeks to nurture leadership and agency among the youth, allowing them to
bring about change and champion their rights.
Part 3
CSR Topics
5
IPPF works on a number of CSR issues that are in line with its mission of advocating for
SRHR worldwide. These subjects comprise available contraception and family planning services,
comprehensive sex education, safe abortion care, maternal health, gender equality, social
inclusion and diversity, volunteerism and humanitarian aid, and accountability (Ipff.org, n.d).
This is done by setting its priorities on these key areas, and IPPF will be making an effort to deal
with the complex problems individuals and communities are facing worldwide and will be
advocating for policies and programs that ensure SRHR is fundamental to human rights.
CSR Partnerships
IPPF has developed different CSR partnerships with government agencies, non-
governmental organizations (NGOs), private-sector entities, and other stakeholders who are
actively working towards improving sexual and reproductive health and rights at the global level
(Ipff.org, n.d). IPPF's collaborations include health ministries at the national and local levels,
philanthropic foundations, and private sector organizations that draw upon resources, expertise,
and networks to maximize effectiveness and reach.
Stakeholder CSR Activities
IPPF provides various CSR activities for the stakeholders to participate in, which include
volunteering, advocacy, and fundraising. Stakeholders, including individuals, communities,
partnering organizations, and corporate entities, can participate in different activities to support
different areas, such as volunteering for healthcare delivery, being part of advocacy campaigns to
promote SRHR, joining in the fundraising efforts to sustain IPPF's programs and services, and
engaging in community outreach and education programs (Ipff.org, n.d). In addition to these
activities, they help in the realization of IPPF's mission and equip stakeholders with the required
6
tools to be an active part of the process of promoting sexual and reproductive health and rights
through the communities, the country, and the world at large.
