Please answer the following question in approximately 1000 words (+/- 250). In answering, illustrate your arguments with concepts and concrete examples and make certain that you address the question. You should draw upon both the lectures and readings in formulating your answers. Your answer should be submitted on Gauchospace no later than 5:00 PM (17:00) PDT on May 20. Use a recognized reference style ( APA, MLA, Chicago, etc.)

Asal et al write, that as do human rights organizations “terrorists have embraced information technology, like the Internet, to coordinate action, foster ideological and tactical information exchange, and to serve as a virtual space for the creation of a politically charged community. …and terror groups are increasingly reliant on international public opinion and the use of international political pressure for leverage. Finally, terrorists too have focused on symbolic politics as a useful tool for exerting political pressure.

Discuss how human rights organizations and terrorist organizations organize and advocate for their causes. In so doing, compare and contrast their approaches to messaging and their methods for doing so. When appropriate, also discuss differences among human rights organizations as a category and also among terrorist organizations (i.e., the essay should primarily examine human rights organizations vs terror organizations, but some exploration of differences within these categories is expected as well).
