Due Wednesday March 27, 2024 by 10:00 pm

NOTE: This is a School Counseling Course

Must Read Everything:

Reply to at least two classmate’s posts, applying the RISE Model for Meaningful Feedback

I will also show an example below of how the response needs to be addressed.

Here's an example of how the response should look. Please don't copy it.

The response to the classmate need to be just like this.

Example Response (Response Needs to be writen just like the response below No copying)

RISE Feedback:

REFLECT: I concur with "Action plans should reflect the type of services that are needed and have an idea of the expected outcome of the services" because it is in line with Hatch and Hartline's intentional school counseling guidelines in regards to determining students needs.

INQUIRE: Can you further explain what "closing-the-gap action plans" are?

SUGGEST: I encourage you to revisit Hatch and Hartline's MTMDSS tier interventions in order to add a citation that would illustrate your example on bullying prevention efforts.

ELEVATE: What if you re-purposed "For example, after a needs assessment, the school is having problems with bullying" as "Following Trish Hatch's MTMDSS tier based interventions, if the school is having problems with bullying, after a needs assessment, we could... citation..."  for a more weighted argument?

What are some challenging skills that a school counselor may experience?

As a school counselor you honestly do not know what challenges may hit you! However, I believe every skill a school counselor has is to be innovative and go with the flow of things. We are able to adapt to our surroundings and be solution focused. I was in a meeting dealing with a serious situation with a student and right when I walked out of that meeting the nurse was frantically looking for me stating that one of my students was beyond intoxicated with alcohol. Luckily I had a good relationship with this student and was able to calm her down. I was not expecting this at all but I believe school counselors have not just the heart but the mind on how to calm down a situation. As school counselors we literally have to think on our feet .

What three components have you discovered in your school or district that have been important when developing a program to reduce or eliminate bullying?
My school district has identified three essential components when developing a program to reduce or eliminate bullying in schools. These components emphasize a multi-faceted approach that engages the entire school community, moving beyond isolated interventions.
The components are:
•    Curriculum Integration: Teachers integrate anti-bullying lessons and activities into various subjects. This approach teaches students empathy, respect, and identifying and responding to bullying.
•    Positive School Culture: The school fosters a positive and inclusive climate where everyone feels valued and respected, achieved through initiatives like a school-wide "Kindness Campaign" that promotes acts of kindness and celebrates positive student interactions. One example is the "Compliment Corner," a designated space where students can leave anonymous compliments for peers and teachers, fostering positive interactions and appreciation.
•    Data-Driven Decision-Making: The school regularly collects and analyzes data on bullying incidents. This data helps identify trends and evaluate the effectiveness of existing interventions, allowing for continuous improvement.
By incorporating these components, schools can create a more inclusive and supportive environment, empower students to stand against bullying and foster a sense of belonging and respect within the school community.
