Since we know that at birth, an infant has all the neurons that it will need and more to create all the needed connections for the learning throughout their lifespan, identifying risk factors impacting brain development is critical to understanding and supporting infant development.

First, read the article “Early Stress Gets under the Skin” to understand the genetic and environment factors that influence brain development both positively and negatively.

In your initial post,

• Describe at least two of the genetic and environmental factors that impact a developing brain by determining which factor(s) you feel have the most negative impact and which factor(s) have the positive impact. Explain why you made those determinations.
