Sociologists describe patterns of interaction among racial and ethnic categories in a society in terms of three models: Pluralism, assimilation, and segregation.

Pluralism: a state in which people of all races and ethnicities are distinct but have equal social standing.

Assimilation: the process by which minorities gradually adopt patterns of the dominant culture

Segregation: the physical and social separation of categories of people.

Please discuss the three terms above, and go beyond (in your own words) the basic textbook definition and provide a critique of each.
