As a final project the student is to write a 3000 word research paper on a passage from the Gospels. The paper is due December 13 and is worth 20% of the course grade. You will follow the same method as outlined for the brief exegetical/interpretive reports, but present a more comprehensive analysis of the text written in an essay form. Note that Jeannine K. Brown, Scripture as Communication provides, especially in Part 2, practical guidance for interpreting scripture. This book, along with class lectures and discussion, will assist you in the completion of the brief interpretive reports and the final research paper.
