Description:

Video Tutorial is an versatile tool as applied to education. It can be used in the flipped classroom environment when student watch a video lesson prior to coming to class. Also, video tutorials can be played back during class session to reinforce and illustrate topics covered. Finally, it allows students to go back and review the learned concept at their own time and at a desired pace.

Record a video using a screen recorder, camcorder or a smartphone on the topic of your choice (including the one you used for your previous projects).

Your talking head should be recorded and appear on the video similar to the recordings that I am posting as the instructions.

Then, turn your video footage to a Video Tutorial as follows:

Step 1: Review the Final Product Requirements:

1. Your final video tutorial should be 5+ minutes long.  This is a how-to video and it should address a topic in the grade that you teach or would like to teach.

2. The tutorial should start with 5-second introductory segment (title), and end with 5-second concluding segment (credits), both can be built in PowerPoint

3. The original video footage and segments (title and credits) should be combined together, and all imperfections cut off by using a video editor program.

Both PC and Apple users can download free OpenShot video editor by CLICKING HERE (Links to an external site.).

Apple users can use the built-in iMovie video editor instead.

Optional Step: It is best practice to add captions to your videos for accessibility. For this project, you will earn bonus points if you are able to add captions to your video. Each screen recording tool we've explored and YouTube have captioning features.

4. The resulting video tutorial should be exported from the video editor into an independent video file in .mp4 format.

Step 2: Upload your Video Tutorial to Google Drive and then link it to your Google Classroom

Here are instructions for publishing a video via the screen recording tools we shared in earlier pages of this module  Loom , Screencastify , Screencast-o-Matic

Step 3: Create a shareable link to your Video Tutorial page on Google Classroom, and submit it by clicking on the title of the assignment.
