Many people understand the negative effects of stereotyping among populations; however, they have no idea of the impact of stereotypes in classrooms. Stereotype threat is whereby a student is threatened to the extent that they experience academic thwart because of fear to conform to a certain negative stereotype about the social group they belong to. Such threats affect any individual within the setting; however, it is prevalent among underrepresented
