Carter, Entwistle, & Little (2015) wrote:

“Our analysis suggests a better response to nanny-state accusations. This involves acknowledging the normative significance of paternalism, critiquing the libertarian conception of autonomy entailed in nanny-state accusations, presenting the relational alternative, and explaining how public health interventions can positively support the self-determination, self-governance and self-authorization that are necessary for autonomy.”
