Purpose
The purpose of this assignment is to demonstrate your understanding of the case and related factors to articulate a treatment recommendation. Using the factors that you identified in Module 2 Assignment related to the case, including drug use patterns and other factors combined with the literature your fundamental task is to make the best recommendations for substance use treatment to meet the client’s needs. This may include medication-assisted therapy as well.
Guidelines
For this assignment you will provide I) a case presentation with substance use disorder, and II) your treatment recommendation for level of care and the rationale for treatment. You may consider pharmacotherapy in your recommendations.
Case Presentation
The presentation of the case study should address the following:
· Demographics
· Presenting problem- why is this case being considered for substance abuse treatment?
· Relevant social history, including education, vocational, and criminal history.
· Relevant family history- including family of origin and choice.
· Substance use history, including first, current, and/or last use of each substance o Route of administration for substances. • Prior periods of abstinence

Treatment Recommendations
The second part of the paper should include a Discussion of the Treatment that you are Recommending for the Client. You Should Provide a rationale for your decision. As noted, you could also include pharmacotherapy in your recommendation.

THIS IS THE INFORMATION TO START WITH FOR THIS ASSIGNMENT
The case of Tony indicates the acute interconnectedness between dysfunction and family violence combined over generations. In this case, abusive behaviors are inherited by older generations (Expósito-Álvarez et al., 2024). The family system has become accustomed to violence. Abuse is used to change mood, which reduces inhibitions to aggression and maintains destructive patterns.
Contextual Information
Tony is a young adult male who was trapped in a family system in which violence and alcohol misuse are his norm. This background displays definite traces of intergenerational trauma. The experience of witnessing violence in childhood increases the chances of becoming a perpetrator in adult life (Melkam et al., 2024). Studies indicate that in court-based programs alleging intimate partner violence, approximately 50% of perpetrators have alcohol or substance use issues. They experience reoffending at high rates and greater severity of violence than those with no substance-related problems (Expósito-Álvarez et al., 2024). This is likely the case with Tony in the family environment. Violence and abuse serve as a culturally practiced method of controlling emotions and conflict resolution. Cultural context, socioeconomic status of the family, and community expectations concerning masculinity are some of the important factors that perpetuate these maladaptive patterns.
Violent History
Tony should be assessed comprehensively regarding his violent behavior in various aspects. This involves the age of onset, pattern of violence, functional impairment, and prior treatment attempts. This is typical of people with violent families who usually begin with more violence. This time correlation is clearly recorded in literature on Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) (Melkam et al., 2024). Studies indicate that the less control the perpetrator has over their partners, the more aggressive they become (Melkam et al., 2024).
Policy and Legal Implications
The case presents considerable legal and policy issues on how intimate partner violence should be treated simultaneously. Expósito-Álvarez et al. (2024) also endorse a combined approach to motivational strategies, including violent behaviors, as opposed to the classification of these issues as distinct problems. According to their research findings, violent concerns require personalized, extensive therapy, and possible legal systems usually require intervention programs. Expósito-Álvarez et al. (2024) note that most of the violence is used as a key contributor to criminal behavior. Social workers have to overcome some dilemmas that are related to confidentiality and safety.
Quality of Presentation
This situation demands systemic intervention concerning social factors and history. The National Center for Biotechnology Information (2020) notes that family-based interventions can be effective since the change in family attitudes toward violence and abuse usually leads to systemic change. A combination of family systems theory and motivational interviewing is a robust framework for this case. Such an approach is aimed at the internal and interpersonal processes that perpetuate aggression and addiction cycles (National Center for Biotechnology Information, 2020). In order to interrupt the intergenerational cycle of violence, practitioners need to employ approaches that combine motivational enhancement with family restructuring to deal with alcohol use as a major triggering factor for continued aggression.
