Big Ideas in Social Psychology Assignment Instructions
Overview
Understanding the major concepts of social psychology will provide a foundation for success in this course. To help ensure your understanding of these basic concepts (also described by the textbook authors as “Big Ideas”) you will be asked to find each of these “Big Ideas” within your textbook, select a quote that summarizes the concept, provide a real-life example of the concept, and reflect on what the Bible says about the concept.
Instructions
The content of this paper will consist of five paragraphs,being 500-700 words in total length. Each paragraph should include at least 4 sentences. Paragraph/section headings are as follows:
1. The Title of Your Paper
· The initial paragraph should provide a brief description of the content that will be included in the essay. Per current APA guidelines, do not use the word “Introduction” as the heading for this paragraph. Instead, the initial heading should be identical to the title placed on page 1.
2. Big Idea #1: Social Thinking
· Begin the paragraph with a direct quote from the textbook (cited appropriately) that defines social thinking.
· Provide a brief example of when you have directly experienced or observed social thinking (in real life).
· Identify and reflect on one thing the Bible says about social thinking.
3. Big Idea #2: Social Influences
· Begin the paragraph with a direct quote from the textbook that defines social influences.
· Provide a brief example of when you have directly experienced or observed social influences (in real life, not in the media).
· Identify and reflect on one thing the Bible says about social influences.
4. Big Idea #3: Social Relations
· Begin the paragraph with a direct quote from the textbook that defines social relations.
· Provide a brief example of when you have directly experienced or observed social relations (in real life, not in the media).
· Identify and reflect on one thing the Bible says about social relations.
5. Conclusion
Based on what you have learned thus far, briefly reflect on:
· What do you think will be most interesting about this course?
· Identify one question you have about a concept that seems difficult to understand.
· Explain the value you think you will find in your study of social psychology.
Structure Requirements
· Use APA current edition undergraduate guidelines. (Include a title page, section headings, appropriate citations, and a reference page). APA Format Quick Guide is located in the Big Ideas in Social Psychology Resource section.
· At a minimum, the course textbook and scripture should be cited within each of the 3 “Big Idea” sections.
· A current APA-formatted reference page is required (our textbook and the Bible must be included).
· Turnitin will be used for this assignment.
· Correct spelling/grammar is required.
· Please refer to the grading rubric for additional guidance.
· A Big Ideas in Social Psychology Sample Paper is provided within the assignment module. You may use the sample paper as a template if you desire to do so. The headings may remain as provided in the sample paper but all other content must be changed to reflect your original work.
