Principles of Marketing
(Due in 5 hours)
This problem set introduces students to the four functions of management, the different levels of managers and the roles they play in the organization, the skills managers need to be successful, the work that managers do, and the mistakes that managers can make which will ruin their careers. Finally, students learn about the management practices that can create a competitive advantage for organizations. (Based on Chapter 1 of Williams Effective Management, 7th edition.)
In this problem set, students learn about organizational environments: external, specific, and internal. After reviewing the components of an organization's environment, the impact of the environment on managerial decision making, and tools managers can use to respond to environmental changes, they also learn about organizational culture, a key component of the internal environment. Students will see how culture is built on underlying assumptions and values and expressed both through what people do and the artifacts that surround them. Finally, they apply their knowledge to a video case, observing the culture at Recycline and learning how to make a change in the environment. (Based on Chapter 2 in Williams, Effective Management, 7th edition.)
