Danielle:

Motivation is a process that initiates , guides, and helps to maintain employees behavior to act or behave in a certain way to reach a desired goal.  A few ways a manager can improve their employee's motivation is by being supportive of their employees, encouraging them to perform better by telling them personally they did a good job, meet with employees, and listen to their concerns.

An example of a time when a manager's actions increased their employee's motivation is by first taking in account and recognizing how hard their employees work, celebrating or rewarding their employee's results with perks.  The manager took action and fought for his staff to get well-deserved wage increases.  Such actions allowed staff to receive significant wage increases which resulted in a boost in morale and increased work production.
