Part 1: Preparing Data

In Part 1 of the assignment, you will be using a raw data file extracted directly from the Centers for Disease Control's (CDC) WONDER data, which includes many measurements critical to the nation's health. You can read more about CDC WONDER on the CDC website using the link below:

Data File

When creating the data file that you will use for this assignment, cancer information was compiled on deaths by principal site of the cancers, U.S. regions, races, ethnicity and sex of the deceased. Puerto Rico was not included in this particular data pull. Data over three years' time, 2007-2009, were aggregated and presented.

Since the data file provided above was a direct data pull from WONDER, several steps are needed to manipulate and prepare the data. Follow the steps in the Assignment Instructions below to prepare the Excel file provided above.

Part 2: Analyzing Data

After successfully completing Part 1 of this assignment, you should have a set of data about cancer deaths, organized by types of cancer and sorted by region. Now, in Part 2 of the assignment, you can begin your analysis of the data. Download and open the question sheet below:
