Poetry Citation Exercise

Select a quote from the poem you will be using for your 2nd essay, and then write it here as if you were putting it into your paper.  Remember, there are three things you need to do when incorporating a quote into an essay:

1. Introduce it (with a small introductory phrase or by connecting it to the sentence before with a colon).

2. Cite it (an MLA citation for poetry includes the line number(s) rather than page numbers and a slash (/) to indicate any line breaks).

3. Discuss its relevance.
