Selecting a venue is one of the important tasks that a planner needs to decide on fairly early in the planning process. Site inspections allow planners the opportunity to get a first hand look at the venues, ask the on-site contact questions and determine the true feasibility of the venue for the event.

There are several considerations that a planner needs to keep in mind beyond the type of venue. These items can include restrooms, area of town, parking, permits, electricity, food and beverage, ADA accessibility, food and beverage needs, and the list continues.
In this activity you will be listening to a webinar as well as reading articles that will provide a variety of perspectives on site inspections and venue selection.

Objectives:

• To develop a deeper understanding of the contracting process when working with event venues
• To recognize appropriate venues for an event based on the event vision and target audience
• To evaluate venues for the purpose of functionality and creativity
• To understand how the Americans with Disabilities Act influences event management
