Separately analyze the risk for pathogen evolution for rice blast and wheat blast.  Identify the major risk factors involved for each system (e.g. pathogen evolutionary potential, resistance gene availability), noting any similarities and differences between the 2 pathosystems.  Would you expect differences between the pathogen population structure in South America and South Asia?  What are your recommendations on the best strategy to achieve durable resistance in rice and in wheat.
