I encourage you to go through several drafts of your answer.  Submit your completed answers to the dropbox by the due date/time. All tests will be run through turnitin.  You will have access to the turnitin report.  You can submit your answers multiple times.  I will grade the last submission. Is the case below problematic for a Kantian ethicist?  Why or why not?  Give a clear explanation of your answer.

Aliens abduct you outside of Roswell, NM.  You awaken in an arena on the alien ship beside another unwitting human.  The aliens explain that if the two of you fight until one of you dies, the survivor can go free and return to Earth.  If you both refuse to fight, or if the fight doesn’t result in the loser’s death, then the aliens will kill you both.  You realize that refusing to fight or failing to kill your fellow captive violates your perfect duty to preserve your own life.  But killing your fellow captive in mortal combat violates your perfect duty not to murder innocent people.
