Philosophy

Simone de Beauvoir maintains that "one is not born, but rather becomes, a woman," and that for many people, taking on gender roles is a matter of "bad faith." What does she mean? Do you agree that when women (and men) take on gender roles, they often do so in "bad faith"? Please explain her outlook and consider whether you find it convincing.
