Persuasive Essay for an English Composition Class

 I currently have to discuss a topic chosen about persuading an audience to agree with my topic......listed below is the start of what I have to go into detail about.

"I want to argue in favor of reintroducing corporal punishment into schools.  Working in the childcare industry, I notice an increasing amount of children with absolutely no respect for authority.  Much of this can be attributed to his/her home life but, in my opinion, schools also play a major role.  Children are more advanced than ever nowadays and often test you to see just how far they can push you to receive a reaction. They learn by being rewarded for good behavior and punished for bad behavior both at school and at home. Unfortunately, some children need to be punished in the school setting more severely than others in order to regain their respect for authoritative figures.  While there are several organizations in favor of corporal punishment, many, like the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, are against it. One of the most solid ways to persuade this group would be to show them school behavior/discipline statistics from dates before it was banned to now.  A drawback would be an argument of the fine line between corporal punishment and what would be considered physical abuse.  However a great argument for this would be to show how we trust teachers and administrators to educate our children on all aspects of life but they cannot effectively do their jobs if they do not have control of the classroom. Students who thrive in the classroom thrive in life and if we have more effective students in school we will have less crime in the street."

I have to now write an essay on the same topic "reintroducing corporal punishment into schools"  including everything listed below.....

** Your goal is the end result that you wish to achieve in writing this essay. What goal do you hope to accomplish with this essay? What will this essay need to be successful? 

**  Potential resources are pieces of evidence that could be used to support your argument. List potential resources that could be used as supporting evidence for your argument, and provide a brief description of each and how they will reinforce your argument. 

** Using the resources you identified above, align specific key points of your argument with your supporting resources to begin to establish an effective essay structure. 

** Based on your argument, determine strategic places where integrating evidence would be most effective and provide rationale for each. 

 Be sure to format, proofread, and edit the document before submitting it. 

A.  Describe the argument to be addressed in your persuasive essay, include how the argument is derived from your major, your field of work, or your life experience.

B.  Determine key points and rationale that will be helpful in supporting the validity of your argument.

C.  Identify the audience that will be reading your essay (targeting groups that disagree with your viewpoint). What potential challenges will you have supporting your argument with this demographic?

D.  Establish a goal that you hope to accomplish with this essay. In other words, can you conceive of your proposed ideas making a "real" change to improve a social problem? What will this essay need to be successful?

E.  List specific potential resources that could be used as supporting evidence for your argument, and provide a brief description of each and how they will reinforce your argument.  

F.  Align key points of your argument with supporting resources for establishing an effective essay structure.  In other words, do you have ideas in mind for where your studies/statistics will be most convincing to support your points in your paper?

G.  Based on your argument, determine strategic places where integrating evidence would be most effective.  (I'm not expecting much here at this point, especially since you haven't acquired all your sources yet.)
