Contribute a 250+ word post on why the peer review process, as you've engaged with it as a student, as a writer, so often seems to be unproductive.

What barriers prevent students from effectively critiquing and engaging with each other's work?  Are those barriers psychological?  Emotional?  Do we lack the confidence to criticize?  Do we lack the empathy or attention?
