Peer ‘s post (Confidence is the feeling or belief that one rely on someone or something; firm trust. After reading the story, “Desiree’s Baby” it displayed different situations where Desiree’s confidence took place. Desiree and her husband Armand seem to have an awkward relationship until she ended up having a baby. The baby was a great factor to her husband because he wanted a boy more than anything. However, Desiree thought in the back of her mind that he wouldn’t have been so happy if the baby was a girl. The two of them were distant at some point to where her husband wanted her to leave because he found out about her race. Chopin made a valid point relating to Armand not even knowing the truth, “I thank the good God for having so arranged our lives that our dear Armand will never know his mother, who adores him, belongs to the race that is cursed with the brand of slavery.”
Desiree believed in her heart that she was white until she called he mother and told her about the incident with her husband. So, Desiree’s mother told her to just come home with no explanation. After Desiree asked her husband if that’s what he wanted also he said yes basically. Desiree left home and went out into the field and didn’t return home at that time she was devastated with her husband not wanting her anymore.
Also, Torres the author of “In Praise of Latin Night at the Queer Club shared an amazing story of how the world view homosexuality and it’s not acceptable to some. In this story Torres writes about a brown shade of skin and many other skin colors that want to be free and have fun in their own world and live. Not to live in this world where there’s judgment and politics on homosexuality is a sin and you are going to hell. An example, “People talk about liberation as if it's some kind of permanent state, as If you get liberated and that's it, you get some rights and that's it, you get some acknowledgment and that's it, happy now? But you're going back down into the muck of it everyday; this world constricts.” Corporate America is still what it is if something is different than the ordinary than it’s not right to certain people. It’s sad if you don’t look a certain conservative way or skin color that you are shy upon and what Torres shared about is people sexuality which has nothing to do with who a person is. A lot of people miss out on meeting a wonderful person or getting to know someone because they don’t approve of their sexuality.)
