Pavement design
You have been provided with a series of subgrade values along the length of the road corridor. You must determine whether lots are required, and if so, how many and where they should be.
This is almost exactly the same as tutorial 2. In that example there were three obvious lots. If you look at the graph of the CBR values in tutorial 2, it is obvious that there are three regions of similar subgrade. The purpose of the exercise is to find lots that have similar CBR subgrade values that are provide a coefficient of variation less than 30%. Variation of around 20% would be preferable.
Many of you have said you have found 3 lots in the assignment. I find that very surprising, as I do not think there is that much variation in the subgrades.
Furthermore, localised subgrade values of less than CBR 3 can be treated with lime stabilisation to improve the CBR to 4. If you do this, then you need to state it clearly in your assignment.
