Party Realignment Research Assignment

 As a library research project, all students must read editorials for a period of three days following Barack Obama’s 2008 and 2012 elections. You should have no difficulty in finding a number of articles that speculated on whether or not each was a realigning election.  After finding and reading each editorial, “follow-up”  reflecting on Donald Trump’s victory in 2016. Were the journalists correct in describing these elections as a realigning period? Why or why not?
