Embraer - Business Challenge Solutions
Introduction
In an era defined by the exponential growth of data, organizations grapple with the challenge of handling and safeguarding vast amounts of information. Herein lies the first pivotal role of a server: data storage and management. Unlike the limitations of local storage solutions, a server offers a spacious repository capable of securely housing critical files, documents, and resources (Linsey 2021). This eliminates the risk of fragmented information across disparate devices, streamlining workflows and promoting seamless collaboration.
Challenges facing Embraer Company’s current office set up.
In the case of Embraer Company, there is a need to digitalize their operations. The use of both physical and computer files was used to store daily tasks such as keeping supply chain records. Therefore, challenges are bound to follow in the near future as data and information continue to be stored in such a manner. Challenges that have been cited include but are not limited to:
Security issues like fire and physical theft of files and computers. Due to the lack of bugler proofing the premises, files, and computers are subject to possible theft cases. In addition, due to a lack of fire detection, prevention, and mitigation, files, and computers are prone to fire. These security issues lead to the loss of data and information that can be costly to the company.
The combination of physical and computer files offers a unique duality, providing organizations with the advantages of tangible records alongside the efficiency and accessibility of digital data. However, this duality often leads to confusion and inconsistencies. One of the foremost challenges is the synchronization of information between these two realms. Maintaining accurate and up-to-date versions across physical and digital formats can lead to errors, data loss, and confusion among stakeholders.
While digitization has revolutionized data accessibility, the integration of physical files can complicate retrieval processes. In cases where specific information is stored in physical archives, locating, and retrieving relevant records becomes time-consuming and labor-intensive. This can hinder operational efficiency and decision-making, especially when swift access to critical data is essential.
The diagram below shows the current office setting at Embraer:
Solution to Embraer Company’s office set up.
As Embraer Company continues to expand its technological footprint, the deployment of physical servers within an office environment takes center stage as a critical strategic move. The decision to incorporate physical servers is a pivotal step that demands meticulous planning and execution (Linsey 2021). This essay explores the comprehensive process of preparing an office for the integration of physical servers, encompassing infrastructure assessment, strategic planning, and the crucial implementation phase.
The foundation of any successful physical server deployment is a thorough assessment of the existing infrastructure. This evaluation entails a comprehensive analysis of the office's physical space, power distribution, cooling systems, and networking capabilities. Adequate space must be allocated to house the servers, ensuring proper ventilation to prevent overheating. Evaluating power requirements is equally vital, as servers demand a stable and uninterruptible power supply to ensure continuous operation. Compatibility with existing networking infrastructure must also be verified, as servers necessitate robust connectivity for seamless data transfer (The University of Kansas, 2015). Hardware setup involves installing the servers, connecting them to power sources and networking equipment, and configuring initial settings. Operating system installation, software provisioning, and data migration further refined the server environment.
Conclusion
While the process of preparing an office for physical servers is rewarding, it is not without challenges. Cooling management is crucial to prevent server overheating, necessitating the implementation of efficient cooling systems (The University of Kansas, 2015). Redundancy planning, such as backup power solutions and network connectivity, is imperative to ensure uninterrupted server operation in case of unforeseen outages. Adequate training for IT personnel on server management, maintenance, and troubleshooting is essential to guarantee optimal performance and quick issue resolution.
The diagrams below show the suggested office setup for Embraer Company:
Preparing an office for physical servers is a multifaceted endeavor that demands meticulous attention to detail, comprehensive planning, and a firm grasp of technological requirements. The integration of physical servers transforms an office into a technology-driven hub capable of supporting complex operations, data management, and future growth. By conducting a thorough infrastructure assessment, developing a robust strategic plan, and executing a seamless implementation, organizations position themselves for enhanced efficiency, scalability, and data security. In an era defined by technological advancement, the integration of physical servers is not merely an operational upgrade, but a strategic leap towards a resilient and empowered business environment.
