Outline and speech

Point Value: 150 pts. (100 for the speech, 50 for the outline)

Instructions: You are to create and present a persuasive speech addressing a question of policy using Monroe’s Motivated Sequence, on a subject of your choosing citing a minimum of 3 external sources in both the outline and the speech.

Your topic must specifically endorse or reject a policy proposal under consideration by the current Presidential administration or the federal legislature.  Sample Topics:

The US should engage in military action against Syria.

The US should not engage in military action against Syria.

The US should bar entry by refugees that come from countries experiencing radical terrorism.

The US should bar not bar entry by refugees that come from countries experiencing radical terrorism.

The US should more strictly enforce federal marijuana laws.

The US should not more strictly enforce federal marijuana laws.

The US should construct a wall on the border between the US and Mexico.

The US should not construct a wall on the border between the US and Mexico.

The US should withdraw from NAFTA.

The US should not withdraw from NAFTA.

These are just a few examples.  If you have one not included on here, just let me know.

Topics you may not select: Abortion and any speech that involves a product for which you may be compensated (basically, no sales speeches). Should any of these be the subject of your speech, you will receive a failing grade. Or if your topic does not meet the previously listed parameters for the speech, you will also receive a failing grade,

Audience requirements: 6 audience members (failure to meet this requirement will result in a grade of zero)
