LDR3215: Reading Summary Guidelines  12-pt, Times New Roman, single-spaced text  One full page with 1-inch margins  Include three key points, one application, and one question  Proofread for grammar, spelling, etc. Specific requirements  Include three key points from the assigned readings o It might help to reflect on:  What surprised you/what did you learn?  What resonated with you/made sense to you?  What do you disagree with/have more to add?  What is challenging about this section?  What is most important about this section?  Include one way that you will apply the reading Cite examples to back up your application o The more specific, the better!  General example: “I’ve seen this in a lot of my student organizations...”  Specific example: “This year in my sorority/family/job, I have tried to...” It might be helpful to reflect on:  How could I have handled that situation differently, knowing what I know now?  What are ways I can use this information to make changes in my life, both immediate and long-term?  How have I seen this show up in the world around me, and what does it mean?  When have I experienced something connected to this reading, and how did I process it?  Include one question you have, related to the readings Your questions should be higher-level thinking. If they can be answered with a yes or no, try again. We want you to think critically – challenge us and yourself!  Generic question: “When have you gone through a change? Is change necessary?”  Better question: “Quinn says change can happen at any point in time, but in my experience, sometimes it’s better to wait for a shift in power, a specific meeting, or a new member of a team to join. What are some ways we can identify when it’s a good time to push for a change?”
