In modern media marketing, ethical considerations are an integral part of a businesses longevity, trust, and legal compliance. For basic security measures, there is a few different things a business can implement. First, with new and continuing employees, always starting with employee training. Teaching employees about phishing scams, handling data, and making these training recurring is essential from keeping data breaches from happening. For data that is both in transit and at rest, making sure it is encrypted is also essential for privacy concerns. Implementing other things access controls or multi factor authentications so that only necessary personnel can get to sensitive data.

Data privacy and integrity is extremely important. With the rise in Artificial Intelligence (AI), there is a rise in concern over ethical AI use. There are laws like the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) that require companies to have clear data disclosure practices. Things like this are very important for consumer trust and people are more likely to share their data when they understand how it is being used. Allowing for options to opt out of AI may make certain consumers also feel more comfortable within their data sharing practices. Businesses must be able to mitigate bias and misuse with AI.

Businesses getting involved or taking a stance on social or political issues is not a blanket should or shouldn’t answer. There are many things to consider if and when a business should take a stance. If a company is trying to stay aligned with their brand values, this could benefit them at times to have a clear stance on issues that may pop up. Silence for things like that can look like complicity from a business. Certain issues can also make it so that brands have consumer expectations, where the majority of consumers may feel like it is a brands responsibility to speak out on specific issues. When speaking on issues, there will always be opposing parties which can create the risk of polarization, but staying true to a brand mission can make customers feel a sense of safety and build trust with customers.

Social media is very beneficial to companies as they have a lot of reach, but this can also cause a lot of risk. The new age of social media has the risk of “cancel culture” and can spur from even one consumer or individual speaking out. This can cause other consumers to waiver on their loyalty to a brand and risk brand reputation. Being sure to address issues with care and swiftness will be best for keeping up with issues that may arise. Other things like undisclosed partnerships can cause distrust in a brand. You can mitigate this by making sure to have clear disclosures viewable to the consumer.

What basic security measures should all businesses implement to protect consumer information online?

- According to the Federal Trade Commision.gov, Regularly run up-to-date anti-malware programs on individual computers and on servers on your network. Encrypt sensitive information that you send to third parties over public networks (like the internet), and encrypt sensitive information that is stored on your computer network, laptops, or portable storage devices used by your employees. Consider also encrypting email transmissions within your business. -FTC.gov, (2016).

- In todays market of 2026, there is ample software and means of providing techinal and physical security for all customers, encryption software and deciding what to choose to store and what not to keep is paramount and or how secure you maintain it through your buisnesses life.

What are your thoughts on data privacy and transparency, especially in the context of AI-driven marketing? Why is this important?

- We frequently heard and read the term , "Market Data" and "Marketing Data Research release" was a big thing when I lived in California, because they can then use and sell your informtion to help make better "investments" on their end.. so a hey... thats valuable, what can I pay you for it..? Its intellegence at the core; so depending on what your state laws are, should be the best route to go. Consult any company legal team if avalible to help navigate this aswell, or pay out of pocket to help secure your company which is also wise.

- A.I. is going the help but make sure there are guard rails put in place so that the A.I. is only savings and or using the information that is required and not storing it for alternative purposes.

Do you believe businesses should use their platforms to take a public stance on social or political issues? Why or why not?

- I do not believe that independant buisnesses should intermingle inside of diversifying political spectrums; it segregates and divides your consumers once they see a red or blue flag... Why shoot yourself in the foot... Stay independant, and just provide your goods and services to the community and help better the community, not divide it due to politics. Thats what Congress does and what debate halls are for and voting places. Stay clear and focused on your original simple goal and dream.

What ethical challenges might marketers encounter on social media, and how would you address or mitigate them in a professional setting?

Currently on my mind, is the use of A.I. over human made content creation is becoming a hot debate topic as the A.I. can make nice presentable displays and brochures; it can still look too "computer generated" and lack the origianl feel and maybe creation "vibe" that a indidivual human would have created, over time redundancey in lack there of, quality artwork can ultimately hurt and or help in micro-use for tasks and procedures and maybe even begin to diagnose and keep you aware of say the health of your ice cream machines before they start to break down etc..
