Purpose statement
This project aims at the creation of a Cultural Alignment and Ethical Leadership Framework to resolve the leadership dilemma related to inconsistent ethical decision-making in multinational corporations, which will result in the improvement of its organizational legitimacy and trust by its suppliers and clients. Ethical leadership will never guarantee the delivery of ethical results when the larger organizational culture contradicts them. As a way of enhancing ethical decision making in a variety of organizational environments, it is hoped that this project would build the capacity to provide leadership through a framework that links leadership practices with cultural alignment strategies.
Research questions
1. How does ethical leadership influence employee decision-making?
2. In what ways does organizational culture strengthen or weaken the effects of ethical leadership?
3. What cultural characteristics foster the most effective alignment between ethical leadership and ethical decision-making?
Project context
MNCs are in business within an environment of increased complexity, global competition, and accountability. Cultural beliefs that compromised ethical leadership and caused reputational and financial losses of a spectacular magnitude have already been demonstrated in the ethical scandals of such companies as Volkswagen and Wells Fargo in the past few years (Disch, 2024). The need to integrate increasingly with the globalizing world, the demands of corporate accountability, the diversification of the global workforce, and other trends have enhanced the significance of cultural alignment to leadership values (Zhang et al., 2023). Organizations are also forced to improve ethical practices under the pressure of external forces such as regulatory pressure and stakeholder activists. On the internal side, the ethical decision-making can be facilitated or hindered by the culture, shared values, norms of communication, and style of leadership.
Knowledge areas
Knowledge Area 1. Leadership theory and approach.
Here, the ethical frameworks and strategies of leadership that lead to fairness, integrity, and role modeling, which directly affect the performance of employees and retention numbers, are investigated.
Knowledge Area 2: Organization, context, and culture.
This section draws attention to how organizational culture strengthens or weakens ethical leadership, and how it creates norms and directs staff behavior.
Knowledge Area 3: Outcomes of the employees.
This domain is concerned with decision-making and behaviour in employees because of leadership and culture that connect ethics to trust and performance.
Proposed methodology
A qualitative approach composed of semi-structured interviews with organizations and employees will be used in this project to study ethical leadership, cultures, and decision-making (Zhang et al., 2023). Information will revolve around people behaviors, culture forces and work performance. The interview will be transcribed and analysed using the thematic approach to determine common patterns within the areas of knowledge. These will be done by reaching out to the subjects through organizational permission which will not be ethical in collection and analysis of documents or data collection and analysis within the research.

The role of organizational culture in moderating the relationship between ethical leadership and employee decision-making in multinational corporations.
I. Introduction
Background and Significance of the Study
Ethical leadership has become increasingly important in contemporary organizations, especially as ethical scandals continue to undermine trust and legitimacy across industries. Leaders are often viewed as role models who set the ethical tone, but their effectiveness depends heavily on the organizational culture in which they operate.
Statement of the Problem
Despite widespread recognition of the importance of ethical leadership, ethical scandals continue to erode stakeholder trust and damage organizational legitimacy. Prior research has primarily focused on identifying the traits and behaviors of ethical leaders, yet less is known about how organizational culture influences the effectiveness of those leadership practices. This study addresses the limited understanding of how organizational culture moderates the relationship between ethical leadership and employee decision-making.
Purpose of the Study
The purpose of this study is to examine how organizational culture shapes the impact of ethical leadership on employee decision-making within multinational corporations. By exploring this interaction, the study seeks to provide insight into how organizations can better align leadership development and cultural practices to promote ethical behavior at all levels.
Research Questions
1. How does ethical leadership influence employee decision-making? 2. In what ways does organizational culture strengthen or weaken the effects of ethical leadership? 3. What cultural characteristics foster the most effective alignment between ethical leadership and ethical decision-making?
II. Literature Review
Knowledge Area 1: Leadership Theory/Approach
Ethical leadership is grounded in theories of moral management, social learning, and transformational influence. Prior studies highlight behaviors such as fairness, integrity, and role-modeling. However, most of this literature treats leadership as an individual-level phenomenon, neglecting how organizational context shapes leader effectiveness.
Knowledge Area 2: Organizational Context / Culture
Organizational culture provides the norms, values, and practices that guide employee behavior. Culture can either reinforce or undermine ethical leadership. For example, cultures emphasizing short-term profit may weaken ethical influence, while values-based cultures amplify it. Current research has not fully examined these interactions, leaving a gap that this study will address.
Knowledge Area 3: Outcomes / Dependent Variables
Employee decision-making is a critical outcome of leadership and culture. Previous studies link ethical leadership to trust, reduced misconduct, and stronger ethical choices. However, measurement methods vary widely, and few studies integrate both leadership and cultural influences on decision-making.
III. Conceptual Framework
This study proposes a framework where ethical leadership influences employee decision-making, with organizational culture acting as a moderating variable. In supportive cultures, ethical leadership is expected to strongly promote ethical choices; in unsupportive cultures, its impact may be diminished.
IV. Methodology (Preview)
This study will adopt a mixed-methods design. Quantitative data will be collected through surveys measuring leadership style, cultural dimensions, and employee decision-making across multinational corporations. Qualitative data from interviews will provide deeper insight into cultural influences. The sample will include employees and managers across departments. Data will be analyzed using regression for moderation effects and thematic coding for qualitative responses.
V. Implications
Theoretically, the study will contribute to ethical leadership literature by integrating cultural moderators into existing frameworks. Practically, it will guide organizations in designing leadership development and cultural policies that reinforce ethical behavior. This can improve stakeholder trust and organizational legitimacy.
VI. Conclusion
This research will investigate how organizational culture moderates the relationship between ethical leadership and employee decision-making in multinational corporations. By addressing this gap, the study aims to provide both theoretical advancement and practical guidance for organizations committed to ethical leadership.

This section is where you report the findings of your research based on the information gathered from the methodology used to answer the research questions. This section summarizes and presents the findings of the study to put in the context of your research questions. Findings often use text, tables, and/or figures. The discussion section shows the reader what your findings mean. The results chapter or section simply and objectively reports what you found, without speculating on why you found these results. The discussion interprets the meaning of the results, puts them in context, and explains why they matter. In qualitative research, results and discussion are sometimes combined. But in quantitative research, it’s considered important to separate the objective results from your interpretation of them.
Conclusions To be completed in OGL 593
Restate your thesis (purpose), summarize the key supporting ideas you discussed in the project, and offer final impressions on the project. Describe greater understanding of the knowledge areas in the context of the project and implications for the future. The conclusion paragraph(s) should restate your thesis, summarize the key supporting ideas you discussed throughout the work, and offer your final impression on the central idea. This final summation should also contain the moral of your story or a revelation of a deeper truth or greater understanding of the topic under study.
Work Plan Schedule
The expected start date of your project is after your prospectus is approved and the final delivery date of your project is determined by when you are enrolled in OGL 593. Working backward from the completion/delivery date, break your project schedule down by describing the major project activities and milestones (e.g. identify current training practices, complete data collection process, complete analysis of findings, etc.).
