PROJECT INFORMATION:

This assignment consists of two parts. For this project you will research TWO senior nutrition programs that provide meals and/or food support to senior citizens. You are to answer the questions below in detail.  You will then analyze the effects of each program by locating scholarly articles that support the program. For example, a number of studies have been conducting on the benefits of Meals on Wheels, Congregate meal sites, SNAP, etc.  for the elderly population. Review the literature and summarize current studies based on the program you chose to report on.

REQUIREMENTS:

 Based on your readings, use of technology, literature, and other sources do the following:

1. Identify and research two agencies that provide meals and/or food support to senior citizens.You may desire to call the program to obtain details; do NOT copy and paste information from their website. You may paraphrase website material (and MUST cite it). Do provide names and titles of those that you speak to.
2. Once you have identified and researched two separate senior nutrition programs, answer the following questions:
3. What is the mission/purpose of the program?
4. What are the goals of the program?
5. Who runs the program and how is it funded?
6. Explain, in detail, the services the program provides. With emphasis on how it may impact an elders nutrition intake; provide nutrition details about this program. Who over sees the nutrition content of the program?
7. Do the elderly have to pay for any of the services? If so, how much and how is the fee determined?
8. How difficult or easy may it be for an elder to find adequate information to utilize this program? Why?
9. What improvements do you think this program could make to enhance the nutrition of an elder further? Why?
10. Provide at least one resource (Journal Article) from our EU Net Library to support your position that you chose for “g” (for both programs)…total of two journal articles necessary.

WRITING REQUIREMENTS:

• The body of the paper should be 3-5 pages (not including title page, abstract, tables, charts, exhibits or references) typed, double-spaced, describing the two senior nutrition programs/answering the questions provided and the research regarding EACH program.
• This paper requires a minimum of TWO PROFESSIONAL references: academic journals, professional journals, and/or appropriate authoritative references identified by the instructor from our EU Net Library and an ADDITIONAL TWO regarding the senior nutrition program at minimum (provide resource information on all that you cite inside of paper.
• All papers are submitted in APA format…MUST HAVE IN-TEXT CITING AND A “REFERENCES” PAGE.
