Part 1: Nursing Research  (Write in the first person) (Due 40 hours)


Purpose:

The purpose is to provide the student an opportunity to reflect on selected RN-BSN competencies acquired through the Nursing Research course. 


1.  Introduction (1 paragraph)

a. Introduces the purpose of the reflection ( Nursing Research)

b. Describe how the Essential IV allows you to translate and integrate knowledge into multicultural clinical practice.  


2. Reflect and demonstrate your learning from the " Nursing Research" course on:

a. Explain the interrelationships among theory, practice, and research.(2 paragraphs)

b. Demonstrate an understanding of the basic elements of the research process and models for applying evidence to clinical practice. . (2 paragraphs)

c. Evaluate the credibility of sources of information, including but not limited to databases and Internet resources.  (2 paragraphs)

d.  Participate in the process of retrieval, appraisal, and synthesis of evidence in collaboration with other members of the healthcare team to improve patient outcomes (1 paragraph)

Part 2: Pathophysiology  (Write in the first person) (Due 40 hours)


Purpose:

The purpose is to provide the student an opportunity to reflect on selected RN-BSN competencies acquired through the Pathophysiology course.

b. Describe how Essential III allows you to train as a nurse with advanced thinking about safety and quality in the services offered in health institutions  


2. Reflect and demonstrate your learning from the " Nursing Research" course on:

a.  Protect patient privacy and confidentiality of patient records and other privileged communications. (2 paragraphs)

b.  Conduct comprehensive and focused physical, behavioral, psychological, spiritual, socioeconomic, and environmental assessments of health and illness parameters in patients, using developmentally and culturally appropriate approaches (2 paragraphs)

c.  Recognize the relationship of genetics and genomics to health, prevention, screening, diagnostics, prognostics, selection of treatment, and monitoring of treatment effectiveness, using a constructed pedigree from collected family history information as well as standardized symbols and terminology  (2 paragraphs)

d.   Communicate effectively with all members of the healthcare team, including the patient and the patient’s support network. (1 paragraph)

Part 3: Pathophysiology 


 

A 52-year-old presents to the clinic complaining of night sweats, irritability, hot flashes, and fatigue. She is determined to be experiencing menopause and is given a prescription for estrogen replacement therapy

She asks you to explain what mechanisms underlie for why she is having these symptoms.
