ATI Virtual Clinical – Clinical III

Part 1: Scenario Review (6 hours) (20 points)
A. ATI Real Life 4.0 Scenario (Learn tab) - Instructor will assign one of the following scenarios to each student. (2 hours)
· Preterm Labor (Real Life RN Maternal Newborn 4.0)
· Cystic Fibrosis Inpatient Care (Real Life RN Nursing Care of Children 4.0)
1. Review content related to the topic of the assigned scenario.
2. Spend at least 1 hour working the assigned Real Life scenario – provide ATI report to drop box in D2L showing amount of time spent.
B. Develop 2 plans of care for this client (1.5 hours) - You will be submitting 2 separate concept maps to D2L.
1. Use your clinical concept map in D2L to complete a priority client problem related to discharge planning.
2. Use your clinical concept map in D2L to complete a priority client problem related to psychosocial needs.
C. Complete 3 of the following Active Learning Templates (2.5 hours). You will be submitting 3 templates to D2L
1. Medication (for scheduled or PRN medication)
2. Therapeutic Procedure (e.g., nasogastric tube insertion)
3. Diagnostic Procedure (e.g., coronary angiogram)
4. System Disorder for the health condition in the scenario
D. Review cultural considerations when caring for this client. Create a word document and write at least two paragraphs on cultural considerations that need to be considered when caring for your client - Include reference (1 hour). Submit word document to D2L.
Part 2: Individual Student Reflection (2 hours) (10 points)
A. Provide individual reflections on the above scenario in the D2L discussion board outlined for your clinical section. You may want to create a word document that you can then cut and paste into the discussion board. Please answer the following questions.
1. Reflect on any ethical dilemmas uncovered during the scenario and describe how you might respond differently based on the situation. Provide evidence-based resources to support your response.
2. Describe an “Aha” moment you experienced during this learning experience and how it will expand your nursing care.
3. What are some aspects of client care that you didn’t feel prepared to make clinical decision for in the scenario and/or after completing the nursing care plan?
4. Describe three to five important concepts you learned from the scenario; then describe how you will apply your knowledge of each concept to future client situations. Provide evidence-based resources to support your response.
B. Once you have answered the above questions respond to at least two of your peers with a minimum of 100 words each that gives support for or questions/deepens some of their thinking.
