Student Answer/Post: I have worked for the same company for the last 10 years. It is a Property Management company with 10 employees. 3 Years ago, I moved to the main office where I managed 3 of the 4 properties. The Building Engineers were not use to structure and change. They were used to doing thing the old fashion way. They were not organized and there was no cohesiveness. They were a bit disgruntled and acted as if they hated their jobs. 85% Percent of employees worldwide hate their jobs. 70% in the US and 94% in China hate their jobs according to a Gallup Poll take in 2017. (85% of people, 2017) I needed to find a way to bring them together as an organized team and fast.

I implemented team building tasks, work lunches, joint repairs, and other activities. I also brought organization into play so that I could bring them up to speed on newer more efficient ways to complete repairs. There was an immediate change; as if a light bulb went off that there was someone who cared. They began to really show interest in their jobs. They began to show up on time and I noticed they did not use as much leave. If I asked them to complete a task, they did it with no complaints. This is when I knew that what I was sharing with them was effective because their attitudes had completely changed from the first day I arrived. They were not as stress once they were armed with a game plan to complete their work in a timely manner. According to Sanders, "Work overload decreases productivity by 68% in employees who feel they don’t have enough hours in the day to complete their tasks." (Sanders, G., 2017) It was also apparent that the past Property Manager had his own agenda. They now work together more than they ever have. Even the residents say that there is such a positive energy about the buildings. My Engineers are not as stressed now and are proud of their accomplishments. They often say they are now better employees.

Question #2 Based on the ideas presented in the future of work material this week, what job do you see yourself performing in ten years? Can you describe the workplace environment?

*****My homework is to provide a response to this student answer to this question, Response must have in text citations AND references from the course material below******

Student Answer/Post: I felt really old after reading, "What the future of work looks like." I was intrigued and amazed with the many options of what we are in store for 10 years from now. We thought we were doing something when computers were invented but with all of the possibilities of what is to come, you really do not know where to begin. Of all of the future ideas, I was impressed with how the employees of Klick conduct their work day. As if out of a sci-fi television show, you are practically transported into this futuristic space where everything is a tap away. I think about those shows where all of your information is on this clear glass board where you are tapping, sliding data, and giving voice commands to complete your work. Paper would pretty much become obsolete, and you would not have to drag a pile of paperwork home from work every night. I would love to work in a space where holograms, and information is right there at your fingertips. However, if that is not possible, in 10 years, I would love to be running my own Bed and Breakfast somewhere near water.
