TOPIC 3: UMUC's SWOT

Even before the mission, a strategic plan begins with an evaluation of the internal and external environments. This is called a SWOT analysis, and SWOT stands for strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. Here is a worksheet to help you categorize the SWOT variables. 

Using this worksheet, try to perform a SWOT analysis on UMUC since that is the organization we all have in common.

Required: Share your SWOT variables with your classmates by posting and participating in the Week 1 Discussion Forum, Topic 3, UMUC's SWOT.

As the week progresses, if you have other variables you'd like to share, please do so.

Another important component of the analysis of the current situation is a competitor analysis. Here is another handy worksheet for analyzing UMUC's competition. 

Required: After thinking about UMUC's competition, share your thoughts with your classmates by posting and participating in the Week 1 Discussion Forum, Topic 4, UMUC's Competitors.

Why did you pick certain competitors to include in your analysis, and who do you think is the market leader based on the listed criteria?
