The social determinants of health that are occurring in the Houston community are food insecurity, economics such as affordability of medications and social isolation.  The best policies to implement to reduce these social determinants would be to give grants to federally qualified health centers and free clinic that can provide primary care and mental health for the underserved. In addition, for the individuals with food insecurities having another grant supported program that can provide home delivered meals to the disadvantage.  For the individual’s that are affected by social isolation it would be good to implement programs where you partner with community organizations for group activities for those that may live along and feel isolated from the outside world.
