What scares you most about dying?
REPLY TO MY CLASSMATE’S DISCUSSION TO THE ABOVE QUESTION AND EXPLAIN WHY YOU AGREE. (TYLER)
Discussion 1 (Tyler) There are a number of things that scare me about dying. Some of the most significant concerns include dying and not feeling I have accomplished all I wanted to in this life, the struggle of family and friends left behind, and the concern that I can't do enough to prepare for that moment. I am a fairly driven and goal oriented person. I am also a planner. If you ask my wife, she can tell you that I have many things planned out for every aspect of our lives together for the next fifty to sixty years. I am forty years old and have every intention to live well into my 90s and even 100s. I worry about an unforeseen illness or accident taking my life before I have accomplished all I plan to. I feel that I have so much that I want to do for my family, friends, and many more before I die.
I think an even greater concern would be that of my family grieving and dealing with my loss. I have devoted my entire life to my wife and children and plan to continue that devotion as long as I live. I know that God has a larger plan for my life than I do and if I were to pass earlier than I hope to I would be fine and in a place of peace and joy with God. However, my wife and children would be left to deal with their grief and my loss. As an Army chaplain, this is my greatest fear. I don't worry about myself if I were to be killed in battle, but I greatly worry about my family. I know the Lord would be there to comfort them and give them strength, but I hate the idea of them going through that loss and suffering. It is for that reason more than anything else that I hope to live a long and fruitful life. I desire to live into my 100s to be there for my children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren as they grow. Ultimately, I know God has a plan for all of us but I would certainly prefer that his plan matches up with mine and I am around for many, many years to come.

Discussion 2 (Lasara)
What I fear mostly about loved ones dying is the fact that I will no longer be able to touch them anymore. There will be no more hugs or conversations. I fear the relationship has ended. I fear
everything attached to them that was connected to me dies with their physical body. I know that's strange. It feels strange to type it. As for fearing death myself, I've wondered about it often. My friend passed a few years ago and I had a difficult time processing his death. Honestly, I still do from time to time. I asked God about dying and what happens. He gave me a dream one night about dying. In the the dream, I could hear my family talking about me. They were laughing and joking, saying they wished I was there. I kept saying, "I'm right here!" I realized that they couldn't hear or see me because I was no longer living. There were beautiful orbs of light around them that we all could see. They expressed that they knew it was me around them by the orbs of light. I looked around and I could see my grandchildren playing (I'd never seen these children, but I knew who they were). There was a vortex (this is what I knew it was called from the dream). It was an opening, swirling into a tunnel. I knew I had to go there, but I wasn't ready. I wasn't afraid at all. I woke up and I was floored by that dream. Its like God gave me reassurance that whatever I feared for my loved ones that pass or for myself, I don't have to be afraid. For believers there is complete peace in leaving this physical body. We will miss our loved ones and the loved ones left here will miss us, but to think of being in the presence of God, there's nothin better.
