When you reflect on the written compared to the taught curriculum in your school or a school that you have knowledge of or have attended, what conclusion do you draw? Is there a discrepancy? If so, why do you think that occurs? If not, what creates those aligned conditions?

REPLY TO MY CLASSMATE’S POST TELLING WHY YOU AGREE TO HER POST TO THE ABOVE QUESTION. (MINIMUM OF 150 WORDS)

When I was teaching music, the written curriculum was outdated (This is when I was teaching music). While not many changes, how we teach or the methods in which we teach do. When you are dealing with a situation such as this you must adapt while you teach. In my case, new standards added but we had not updated the curriculum to show the added standards. To still hit those standards, I was having to supplement other resources and even paid for a curriculum myself to teach in tandem with the current curriculum. We must ensure that the written curriculum is current so that discrepancies do not occur.

Other times, teachers become comfortable with what they have been teaching and begin to teach what they "know," they might be missing something in the curriculum. Or if resources are not available that the curriculum instructs teachers to use, again, discrepancies can occur. In the perfect world, curriculum would be modern, teach all the standards in an attention-grabbing way, and the teachers would teach it exactly that way and all would be great with student learning. Unfortunately, this is not how it works. Teachers all have their own style that comes in, their own knowledge base, and that affects how the curriculum transferred to the student. .0
