CLASSMATE’S POST
The Supreme Court is the “last stop” in the legal process. It is extremely important to have the best legal minds interpreting laws and applying legal knowledge to determine the best outcome for American citizens. Equal justice under the law has always been a staple of promise in the justice system.
Each person carries their own belief system. We all have opinion on how we feel about certain things and most times agree to disagree with others. A judge is no different. As a matter of fact, each judge has been labeled liberal or conservative depending on the views and actions they have ruled on in the past. If the justices can put aside their personal beliefs and look at each case on the merits, only then would it be possible to have a neutral an unbiased court. Impartiality is the key. If judges and juries can remain fair, our justice system remains relevant.
Justice Thomas is known for his relative ease at overturning decades of precedent. If there were a case that made it to the Supreme Court which was based on what could possibly be considered outdated precedent, one would probably feel comfortable knowing that Justice Thomas had a tendency of overturning similar cases.
