This week, instead of specific questions addressing this week's readings, there is a short reflective essay assignment:  In light of our readings regarding the rules of the common law and the property rights regarding animals in America, what are the key elements of success regarding animal protection under current law?  Should they be altered for greater protection of animals?  Are they sufficient?  If change is or is not needed, please give a detailed explanation for your argument.  You are allowed to use references to our readings and materials outside of the course-assigned readings.
