DISCUSSION 1 (Samuel)

Health is the absence of illness. The World Health Organization (WHO, 1948) offers a different

view and defines health as “a state of complete physical, intellectual, and social well-being”

(para.1). Health promotion schemes aim to involve and empower individuals and communities

to choose healthy behaviors and make changes that minimize the risk of initiating severe

diseases and other morbidities. It enhances the living standard of all people and reduces

premature deaths. I chose this course because it will provide me with an understanding of

improving the health status of individuals, households, populations, states, and the nation.

Health promotion strategies can enhance my professional development in this course if I adopt

healthy habits and prioritize self-management, which will typically contribute to improved well-

being and enhanced chances of attaining my professional goals.

It will improve my well-being by engaging in health promotion activities like regular exercise, a

balanced diet, and stress management techniques to enhance my physical and mental well-

being. When we are healthy and energized, we are more likely to be productive and inspired

professionally. It will lead to positive role modeling. By actively practicing these methods, I

become a positive role model for others, including colleagues, peers, and subordinates. My

dedication to health and well-being can motivate others to prioritize their own well-being,

leading to an effective work environment and fostering the achievement of expertise for the

entire team.

I can stay focused and perform better in my career by taking care of my health and adopting a

healthy lifestyle, leading to increased productivity and enhanced expertise achievement. Thus,

skills help prevent chronic diseases and eradicate absenteeism due to sickness. I can minimize

tension and avoid burnout by setting boundaries and engaging in activities that encourage

physical and intellectual well-being. Attaining a healthy work-life balance enhances job

satisfaction and overall professional success. This method enables individuals to prioritize self-

management and create a work-life balance.

Lastly, it will enhance networking opportunities. Engaging in health promotion initiatives, like

wellness programs or workshops, can pave the way for networking with like-minded

individuals. Building connections with experts who welcome wellness can open doors to new

career opportunities, collaborations, and mentorship, enhancing my professional success.

DISCUSSION 2 (Lorraine)

This course will enhance my professional success when I have made that push to complete my

M.S. degree in Healthcare Administration. I know that I will not be a resident expert in

healthcare until I experience the actual job market and learn what the profession is all about

and after some years in the industry, then I can see myself as a healthcare professional.

I want to serve as an agent of change that can recognize or help people recognize what needs

to be done in the healthcare industry by being instrumental in transforming the industry while

preparing for the future. It is highly noticeable that profound changes are taking place across

the healthcare industry and in every organization. I want to be a part of the radical changes that

the healthcare industry is badly in need of because I believe that I can make a difference. I want

to be one of the many who help plan for, communicate, execute, and adapt to the developing

healthcare landscape. If my comment seems personal, you are correct, something happened in

the healthcare field that started me advocating for healthcare.
